Rush Fire Dept. - 1971 Rush-Mendon Road, Rush, New York 14543 585-533-2058rfdept@rochester.rr.com (web master bfaugh@rochester.rr.com) Scroll Down for Latest News................
The Fire Siren at Station #1 is back in service. All the input we received from the question as to leave it out of service or get it repaired came back to get it repaired. The siren will sound 5 cycles for Fire or Rescue calls and one cycle for Ambulance calls. It is shut off at 9 pm and turns on at 7 am. The original fire siren was located on the mill located next to the Honeoye creek and when the mill burned in 1941 it blew as it fell into the creek. A new siren was located on a tower next to the fire station when it was in the town hall. The Rush Library is located in that area today. When the new station was built in 1971 the present siren was moved to that location. For many years the siren was blown at noon as a civil defense test. It was also tested on Saturday. These tests are no longer required.
